I just changed the URL for this blog from http://carl-johan.hunefalk.com/ to the more manageable http://callehunefalk.com/.

The reason? It’s a lot easier to communicate URLs without dashes and periods. My full name is Carl-Johan Hunefalk, but as is the custom in Sweden (where I am from), I’ve had the nickname Calle my whole life.

When I started my career, I used the more formal Carl-Johan in business contexts. When I moved to New York, I ran into my first hurdle with that name – people could not pronounce it, or select half or it (“Carl” or “Johan”) to call me. We all identify ourselves with our name (or names), and for me, it was an important issue not to have my name “halved”. Of course, Americans tend to be as happy about nicknames as Swedes, so Carl-Johan was shortened to “CJ” – or “C” to those who felt even that was too long to pronouce.

I’ve been back in Europe for 8 years since moving back from New York, and have used both variations of my name, perhaps to the slight confusion for people I’ve been in contact with. You will probably see my name online in both variations if you do a search – but now it’s time to simplify.

Calle – [Ka - leh] pronounced like ‘Ca’ in Capacity and ‘Le’ in Leverage.

Carl-Johan Hunefalk = Calle Hunefalk

You can read more details about naming in my upcoming posts on creating a Personal Business Plan.

I had not gotten far with the renewed effort on this blog, but I am still determined to get it rolling again.

Despite my illness, I am working hard to deliver SEO projects and Reputation Management work, and when I have recovered enough to continue with this blog, I will post about some interesting findings there.

However, I’d just like to mention that this blog is still alive, and will be kept alive in the foreseeable future.

I have just added two new affiliate networks in Denmark to complete that list. If you have any updates to affiliate networks in Sweden or the UK, please write a comment here.

Even though this Online Marketing blog is being updated infrequently, I will certainly update it at the end of some of the projects I am working on. At the moment, I am working to infuse knowledge and create processes for SEO with one of my clients. I will write some of my learnings from that project, once it’s finished.

The new guidelines cover three basic forms of online video ad formats: linear ads, non-linear ads and companion ads.

Linear video ads are interruptive video spots – typically the pre-roll type, which is similar to television ads. According to MediaPost, these are the most effective type of ads for branding.

Non-linear ads include overlay ads, normally covering the bottom quarter of the video window. Overlays in videos can for example be directly clickable through to a landing page, or enable interaction while pausing the video.

Companion ads are text or image ads that appear next to a video.

It’s welcome news to the industry, to get new standards for video ads online.

The ad sales division of IAC/InterActiveCorp said its goal in making the move was to consolidate IACs myriad Web properties into a single media ad serving platform using the latest available technology. It said the move to Atlas will allow it to offer advertisers better access to more than 60 million unique IAC users each month, a June audience figure reported by comScore Media Metrix.

IAC owns Ask, Excite, Expedia, Hotwire, iWon, Live Daily, Match Ticketmaster, TicketWeb, Match.com, Citysearch and Evite. It characterizes its audience as “busy mothers, trendy singles, established professionals, tech-savvy consumers and affluent couples.”

The deal is a big win for Atlas and for Microsoft, which anticipates completing its acquisition of aQuantive by the end of the year.

Like search-related text ads, performance banners let advertisers pay for exposure to customers only when people respond to the ad, whether it’s by agreeing to receive more information or by taking some action. The privately held company, which also sells behavioral targeted ads, is ranked the fifth largest ad network in the United States and second largest in the United Kingdom.
