Avinash is the author of Web Analytics: An Hour A Day, which I can recommend to anyone who is new at web analytics, as well as the Analytics Evangelist for Google.

In his post, Avinash takes a look at existing dashboards, available in web analytics tools or from web analytics consultants. The great point he makes, is that most dashboards are not actionable. I’d say that accounts for most reports in most web analytics systems, as well as most other systems with reports.

So how do you create actionable dashboards? Read further on The “Action Dashboard” (An Alternative To Crappy Dashboards)

IndexTools COO Dennis Mortensen writes on his blog VisualRevenue that IndexTools (bought by Yahoo!) willl be free for Yahoo clients.

Yahoo! currently intends to provide the IndexTools Web Analytics service FREE of charge to clients and partners who accept the standard Yahoo! agreement.

All you have to do is accept the standard Yahoo! agreement. This is excellent news in the web analytics field, and will provide a strong competitor to Google Analytics.

Dennis Mortensen claims that IndexTools has 80% of Omniture’s features. With the upcoming upgrade of IndexTools web analytics system, that will probably place IndexTools as the tool of choice for many enterprise businesses.
